Lighting Up Atlanta

The holidays remind many of us of colorful lights illuminating the night. Dashboard, an art exhibition and curation company based out of Atlanta, wanted to rethink the typical Christmas light display while supporting local and national artists. Dashboard reached out to us in Fall 2021 to create a neon piece that would illuminate the words of poet Theresa Davis. The phrase “RING YOURSELF AWAKE” is an excerpt from her poem “Inheritance.” Teresa performed this piece at the opening ceremony of the PRISM: Winter Lights exhibition, with the words illuminated on top of the fountain as she read. ALL LINED UP

Each neon unit was mounted on individual pieces of red plexiglass for easier transport and install.

Piece by piece

On a sunny afternoon in early December, our team mounted the neon on a metal frame to be placed on top of the Woodruff Park fountain.
