January's DO REPLY recap
We kicked off 2024 with the launch of our newsletter, DO REPLY. This newsletter is an experiment in creative connection, where each month we send out a small prompt (nothing that should take longer than 3 minutes) and ask you to reply to the newsletter with your response. Check out this blog for a recap of January’s newsletter and our first round of prompt responses!
DO REPLY: JANUARY 2024
Maybe it doesn’t make much sense for a small neon sign business, in the year 2024, to start an ol’ fashioned email newsletter.
But last year we had an idea. Then we couldn’t stop thinking.
And talking,
and thinking,
and talking.
Then we got overly strategic, tried to perfect the idea, and then just set the whole thing to the side. Of course. (You’ve done this, right?)
Well, DO REPLY is that not-quite perfect idea, and it turns out you’re the missing piece. We’re officially taking this seed of an idea, dusting it off, and letting it grow into something far more interesting than perfect. Perfectionism has killed more good ideas than it ever brought to life, anyway.
DO REPLY is an experiment in building a community around creative connection. Our ultimate goal is that it will serve as a source of creative inspiration for you and us. We’ve found that the more we connect with others, the more we’re inspired in our own work.
So in this newsletter, want to hear from you. Yes, you. Because you’re a super person with super ideas to match. Each month you’ll see a simple prompt - nothing that should take more than 3 minutes - that we ask you to reply to this email with your response. Sometimes it’ll be silly, sometimes serious, always fun. All responses (including our own) will be compiled anonymously and shared as a blog post each month.
And because we can’t wait to hear from you, let’s try it now…
DO REPLY:
Draw a goat from memory.
No cheating! We’ll be drawing goats, too. A well-drawn goat isn’t the goal here, it’s about trying something knowing it probably won’t turn out perfectly (and maybe getting a good laugh while you’re at it).
READER RESPONSES
Look at all these beautiful goats. To those who participated in our first-ever DO REPLY, thank you! If you haven’t signed up, but are curious to see what the next prompt will be, sign up for DO REPLY at the bottom of this post.
